Outdoor destination mountain weddings are spectacular. In recent years they have grown exponentially in popularity. If you’re looking for a stunning backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains for your wedding, the Clubhouse Lawn at Trillium Lake and Links Club in Cashiers, NC may just be the perfect location for you. It certainly was for Justin and Kristy. Justin said he knew it was “the one” for their happy celebration as soon as he laid eyes on the Clubhouse Lawn while visiting Trillium’s website.
Justin, a native of the region, planned his and Kristy’s mountain wedding all the way from Australia. He said it was “pretty hard” planning everything, especially since he did most everything by email. Justin moved to the country for school a little over 10 years ago, ended up staying in the area for work and, eventually, met the love of his life.
This was actually the pair’s second wedding celebration. Their first took place on the beach back home in Australia a few months before they traveled to the United States.
Why did the couple choose to have two weddings, in separate countries none the less? Kristy said it was very important they celebrate this monumental moment with all of their friends and family. Since many of Justin’s close friends and family members, like his grandparents, were unable to make the journey to Australia for their beach wedding, they decided to plan a smaller, but no less significant, wedding in the mountains of North Carolina.
During Justin’s portrait session before the ceremony, he told me that “Kristy took care of all the planning for our wedding in Australia, so, I handled everything for the wedding in North Carolina, down to the flowers… I based her bouquet off of the one from our Australian ceremony. Kristy hasn’t even seen where we’re getting married yet – so it’s kind of a surprise.”
Kristy loved the surprise! When we arrived at the venue to make her bridal pictures, after taking everything in, she said, “Wow! It’s really magnificent! Everything is so beautiful – Justin did such a fantastic job.”
I absolutely loved making pictures for Justin and Kristy’s wedding in Cashiers! It was great getting to meet such a wonderful, sweet couple and document their happy memories with loved ones.
