The Place
Rustic and elegant, The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek sits on the edge of Sylva, NC in a picturesque mountain setting with both woodland and rolling hills. Originally located in Pennsylvania and moved to Sylva, the barn itself lends to an authentic and sophisticated scene amidst the vineyard overflowing with many different kinds of grape vines.
It is for these reasons amongst others that Austin and Whitney chose the Vineyards at Betty’s Creek as the location for their wedding. Wanting a black-tie affair while retaining a rustic feel, the space seemed to suit them perfectly. Plans were made and details were carried out as the wedding party got ready that day. For Austin and Whitney, the fairy tale had truly begun.
The day was supposed to hold rain, but we lucked out as the weather held off. The clouds provided spectacular lighting for outdoor portraits. In addition, the wedding happened to land on one of the last days of peak season for fall. This created a beautiful background that added a lot of texture and color to pictures. The atmosphere was fun and laid back as we captured moments together before the wedding.
The Wedding Party
The bride made sure to include some of the most special people in her life, including the littlest ones. The wedding party was comprised of a unique blend of both family and friends and lent to a festive and energetic group.
The Photos
Following the ceremony, we snagged some more photos with the wedding party in several different locations on the grounds. We also caught some special moments between bride and groom. Something beautiful about The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek are all of the backdrops they can provide in one setting. Between the mountains, rolling fields, barn, lodge, cottage, pavilion and even the vineyards themselves, we didn’t lack for beauty.
The Reception
The reception was formal but laid-back as the bride and groom surprised their guests with a special dance. They had taken lessons with moves choreographed just for them to perform. Toasts from the wedding party were both entertaining and comical. The band was top notch – truly the highlight of the reception.
The rain began as the night came to a close, so we snagged one last photo to cap off the evening.
Austin and Whitney put on a stunning fairy-tale wedding with the help of their family and friends. Amidst all the pieces that must come together to make such a fantastic day happen, one thing stood out. Having worked several weddings at this location, the fact that on a property with such mountainous terrain, The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek staff make a team that go out of their way to hike across the property and do what is needed, working together to make the day great for all involved.
