The Farm At Old Edwards Inn I Highlands I Juan & Nick

What can be more soul-satisfying than a fellow wedding photographer choosing you to document their wedding day? I think there can’t be a bigger token of trust and honor than this bestowed on you as a creative and simply as a human. I’ve been photographing weddings for over 20 years and love meeting all those beautiful couples. Learning about their stories is so much fun and helps me establish a connection with them. I feel so excited about giving my couples my very best and providing them with photos that they can cherish forever! Now, you can imagine the level of my excitement when one of the grooms at this wedding I was going to photograph was actually my friend and colleague. Woah!!! That was an instant connection there! What an adrenaline rush it was when I got to create wedding portraits of my fellow wedding photographer Nick and his dapper groom Juan. It was so sweet to witness and document Nick’s special moments, who has himself, for long, played the role of capturing the beauty of other couples’ wedding day to the tee. My couple, Juan and Nick, had a charming, mountain-inspired Highlands wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards, and the fun I had creating their photos was unmatched!

The Setting I The Farm At Old Edwards Inn

Nick and I (Terri) have been friends and fellow wedding photographers for many years. I was honored that he and Juan asked me to document their special day. The vendors they chose were also the ones that we’ve both worked with for many years, which made it feel like a family celebrating a loved one on a very special occasion! Kirk from Oakleaf Weddings is also a long-time friend of Nick’s and did the floral design for the wedding. I have been working with Oakleaf Weddings for over a decade at many of my Highlands events, and he has a stellar reputation and is so fun to work with. So, this wedding actually gave me bonus after bonus, and it goes without saying that I loved every bit of it!

Juan and Nick’s wedding was an intimate affair, which made it more like a lovely family get-together. And, this was such a sweet feeling. From the exquisite venue and the decor to the attire, everything at this wedding was so classy and elegant. The couple relaxing, talking, and playing games with their friends (cards against humanity) before the ceremony exuded the most chilled-out vibe. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the early/getting ready part of the day. Also, these moments made for some amazing photos.

Holly Henderson Pinter, Nick’s lifelong friend, did a reading, gave a toast, and also made the cake for my couple. Such a thoughtful gesture from a friend beautifully conveyed her love toward Juan and Nick. Nick’s two nephews, Gavin and Oli, were also at the wedding, and I got some good pictures of them as they had a fun time. I also created more family photos to include everyone who came in to bless and celebrate my couple.

The toasts from both Juan and Nick’s closest friends were thoughtful and funny at the same time. The tree-planting ceremony during the wedding was unique and such a good idea. There was an accident on the small and windy road leading to the venue, which caused a delay for many guests (including the readers and Nick’s mom). However, luckily, Juan and Nick stayed calm, and with the help of Shayna from Altaterra Events, they postponed the ceremony by 15 minutes and everyone made it in time!

My favorite moments from this wedding were seeing my good friend so happy to marry his best friend, Juan! And, then witnessing everyone cut loose on the dance floor was such a joy. Juan’s family, especially, showcased some amazing moves, and everyone had lots of fun dancing and celebrating together. What a beautiful and fulfilling day it was!
