THE LOCATION & COUPLE
I recently got the dream call from a bride inquiring about documentary-style coverage of a courthouse elopement. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, after talking to Holly, her vision included a vintage look which I love. Add in her eye for detail and exquisite planning and I knew this was going to be an amazing wedding to photograph.
Holly and Stephen met by chance at a restaurant in Colorado, after enjoying a casual conversation they exchanged numbers. As their relationship grew, they enjoyed time together as a couple in Colorado. When they were looking for their next place to settle down they chose Asheville to be their home together. We love that the memories of their wedding day include such a prominent piece of what is now their home city!
From the moment Holly arrived, the spark between her and Stephen was evident.
Their unique “first look” at Asheville City Hall was followed by candid shots documenting the two as they shared a few moments together before their ceremony.
When the time was right we walked next door for the main event. Holly and Stephen were joined by each of their moms who would witness their ceremony in person along with friends and family across the country watching via Zoom.
THE CEREMONY
It always feels special to be a part of a couple’s wedding but to witness this intimate elopement was a true honor and the fondest memory. The couple exchanged vows then rings and it was official, they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Chapman.
THE HISTORIC COURTHOUSE
Stepping into the historic area of the Asheville Courthouse the architectural details provided the ideal background to complete the scene and provide that vintage feel. We moved slowly throughout this beautiful space which allowed Holly and Stephen to relish in their new roles as husband and wife giving us time to capture the beautiful moments they shared.
CELEBRATING TOGETHER
As we ended back outside, Stephen’s grandmother was able to join them and we gladly made portraits as the family celebrated together. While the event may have been small the feelings of love and support were aplenty as family and friends participated by whatever means possible.
The couple, the location, the ceremony, the entire day, did not disappoint!
